Adverse effects

Side effects associated with adrenaline’s alpha and beta receptor activity may include palpitations, tachycardia, sweating, nausea and vomiting, respiratory difficulty, pallor, dizziness, weakness, tremor, headache, apprehension, nervousness and anxiety. However, these side-effects usually subside quickly, especially if the patient rests.

Cardiac arrhythmias may follow administration of adrenaline, although this is more commonly associated with IV use.

The potential of adrenaline to produce these types of adverse reactions does not contraindicate its use in an acute life-threatening allergic reaction.
