Stability/storage
Adrenaline is sensitive to light. The auto-injector should therefore be kept in its outer packaging or hard carry case.
It should not be stored above 25ºC and should not be refrigerated or frozen.
The patient should be advised to check the contents of the glass cartridge in the pen periodically through the viewing window of the unit to make sure the solution is clear and colourless. The pen should be discarded if discoloured or contains a precipitate. However, due to the life-threatening nature of anaphylaxis use of an EpiPen® (adrenaline) auto-injector with discoloured contents may be recommended rather than to postpone the treatment.
